From waste to product: How we use recycled material in our rain ponchos and protect the environment

We move forward to close the circle. The goal is the circular economy.

Sustainability is an important issue these days and many consumers want to know how much recycled material is contained in a product. The problem, however, is that there is currently no way to determine or certify with absolute certainty the amount of recycled material in a plastic product.

Be careful with certifications, trust in renowned brands and the transparent communication of the manufacturers

This is because there is no consistent method for determining the amount of recycled material in a plastic product. The composition of recycled plastic can vary greatly depending on the material source, sorting and cleaning processes, and recycling methods. The proportion of recycled material in a product can also change if it is mixed with new plastic, for example.

Another problem when determining the proportion of recycled material is the possibility of counterfeiting. It is difficult to verify whether the declared material is actually made from recycled material or whether it is a scam where new material is passed off as recycled material.

However, there are different methods to estimate the proportion of recycled material. A common method is to examine the carbon content in the material. Since recycled material typically has a higher carbon content than new material, this can be an indicator of the proportion of recycled material. Another method is to use markings placed on the product indicating that it is recycled material. However, these markings are assigned by the manufacturers themselves and cannot be verified by an independent body.

Overall, there is currently no reliable method to certify the proportion of recycled material in a plastic product. While it is important to use recycled materials and reduce environmental impact, consumers should be careful and not rely solely on certifications. Instead, they should stick to reputable brands and manufacturers that are committed to sustainability and transparent about their use of recycled materials.

Sustainability and environmental protection are our most important values

In our production of rain ponchos, we attach great importance to sustainability and environmental protection. For this reason we only use recycled material in our products. We recognize that using recycled material reduces environmental impact and helps close the plastic loop.

As a responsible company, we take the issue of sustainability very seriously and are committed to doing our part to protect the environment. We are proud that we are able to produce high-quality rain ponchos from recycled material and thus contribute to protecting the environment.

JOSANTO sets the standards – the competition follows suit. This is how change occurs.

We invented the compostable bioPoncho in 2013, and today there are many compostable rain ponchos. In 2021, our entire product range was changed. By using recycled material in our products, we want to set an example and encourage other companies to take similar actions. We hope that our efforts will help promote sustainable production of plastic products and have a positive impact on the environment.

We are convinced that our customers appreciate the quality of our rain ponchos and our sustainability efforts. We will continue to do everything we can in the future to further optimize our production and make our contribution to environmental protection.
